Why everyone keeps coming back.

YoungDong Noodle (영동 칼국수) is a standout Korean restaurant nestled in the heart of Los Angeles at 928 S Western Ave. Specializing in authentic Korean noodle dishes, this cozy spot brings a genuine slice of Korea to the bustling city with an inviting atmosphere that strikes a perfect balance between casual comfort and vibrant energy. It's the kind of place that feels warm and welcoming, as if you’re stepping into a beloved neighborhood eatery where every bowl is crafted with care.

The star on the menu is undoubtedly the Spicy Chewy Noodle, priced at $14.99, a dish that perfectly captures the essence of Korean spicy noodles with a texture and flavor that linger delightfully on your palate. Diners rave about the depth of flavor in their broths and the perfect chewiness of their noodles, which strike a wonderful harmony between softness and bite. Beyond just this signature dish, the culinary offerings extend to other notable favorites like naengmyon (Korean cold noodles) served with a secret mustard sauce that is celebrated for its refreshing kick—ideal for LA’s warm climate—and hearty soups like mandu (dumpling) soup and chicken noodle soup, appreciated for their rich, comforting broths.

Customers frequently highlight YoungDong Noodle’s commitment to freshness and authenticity. The kimchi here is particularly praised for its perfect balance of spice and fermentation, enhancing every meal with a burst of bold flavor. Vegan diners are also well taken care of, with several vegetable and meatless options that can be easily adapted, such as the flavorful and refreshing spicy cold noodle dishes. Portions are generous, often accompanied by excellent banchan—traditional Korean side dishes like both spicy and non-spicy kimchi—that add complexity and satisfaction to each meal.

The atmosphere inside carries an approachable, lively food court vibe, making it easy for friends, families, or solo diners to feel right at home. Service is consistently described as kind and attentive, adding to the overall pleasant dining experience. Many patrons express their eager anticipation to return, intrigued by the variety and authenticity of the menu and delighted by the warmth of the environment.

For those craving a lunch or dinner that feels like an immersive journey through Korean flavors without leaving Los Angeles, YoungDong Noodle is an exceptional choice. Whether you're indulging in their spicy chewy noodles, savoring the cold naengmyon, or diving into a steaming bowl of soup, this restaurant promises a celebration of taste that’s well worth the visit.

I keep hearing great things about this place from my friends and colleague's who live is LA. All i have to say is that this place is worth 5 hour trip from Vegas! You cannot compare the taste of their naemgmyon or ddukgalbi with anyone else. The naengmyon paired with their secret mustard sauce is perfect for the humid/hot weather. If you are in the mood for some hot korean food, the mandu soup and ddukgalbi would be the one I recommend. One of the most unique food items i saw were the egg rolled kimbap. The kimbap filling is filled with fresh vegetables and meat. With the egg coating the whole roll feels complete!

Most vegetable and meatless menu items can be made vegan. Ordered the spicy cold noodle. Very flavorful and refreshing.

Good soup I ordered the chicken noodle soup to go. Noodles had a good texture, broth was very rich, and they give good portions with two banchan (non spicy and regular kimchi).

One of the better places for their kimchi. Fresh, good amount of chili paste, and just felt perfect. Tried the seafood soup which was pretty good but used frozen seafood which was expected. The noodles were cooked well, could be a bit more chewy. Will likely pick another noodle dish next time Service was kind. The atmosphere had a fun food court vibe

I went there while I was on vacation in Koreatown. I originally ordered the spicy ramen with rice cakes. Someone had went up and took my order so the lady running the store apologized and gave me something different. Honestly I was a bit upset but took it any way. It was SOOOO good. The sides they give as well were very tasty. We ended up going again later in our trip so I could get what I had originally order. That was amazing as well. In the span of a week being in Koreatown we ate there 4 times. There are plenty of ramen and noodle places there but this one is the absolute best. The service is amazing and the workers are so nice! I honestly think about visiting again too just eat there. It was that good!

Cold noodle was chewy in a good way. Refreshing on a hot day. Took 20 min for the chili version but worth the wait. Think it’s a better deal to get the set with meat and a soup if you don’t want noodles though. It’s a lot of food so better for sharing.

First time trying the clam noodle soup. The broth was perfect, not too salty nor sweet. I was thinking about going to an actual restaurant, then saw this on Yelp and decided to try it here instead since I'd been eyeing Nicole's Coffee next door for some time. A good alternative to the ramen and pho. It's located in the food court, so you always have a place to sit and eat. I would come back!
